Hellboy is a comic book character created by Mike Mignola in 1993, a demon summoned to Earth as an infant by Nazi occultists during World War II, raised by Professor Bruttenholm of the BPRD. Despite his demonic appearance, Hellboy is a good-hearted character who fights against supernatural threats to humanity, often with the help of his fellow BPRD agents. His adventures take place in a world filled with folklore, mythology, Lovecraftian horror, and other supernatural creatures, as well as political intrigue and the consequences of human ambition. Hellboy is known for his dry wit and gruff demeanor, as well as his love of cigars and pancakes, and has become a popular character in comics, movies, and other media.
